My Painful Journey to Crafting Polymer in Palworld

If I had known that a single crafting material would turn my peaceful Palworld base into a miniature industrial park, I might have kept happily shooting berries at Lamball. But no, I decided I needed Polymer, the fancy synthetic substance that sits at the very bottom of the Technology tab like a locked treasure chest guarded by electric organs and regret.

Let me spare you some of my own confusion: Polymer is not an early-game resource. You cannot pluck it from a tree, mine it from a sparkly rock, or bribe a Pal to cough it up. It unlocks all the way down in Tier 33 of the Technology tab, which means you will be spending Technology Points faster than a hungry Cattiva eats raw berries. Before you even unlock the recipe, you need to build some serious factory infrastructure.

The Pre-Polymer Shopping List

To produce Polymer, the game expects you to have already unlocked and built two big machines:

1. The Production Assembly Line from Tier 28.

2. The Power Generator from Tier 26.

That is 150 Ingots before you have made a single drop of Polymer. If you are like me, you will suddenly realize that every Ore Deposit on the map has become your new best friend. Grab a mining Pal, find a cluster of ore nodes, and start swinging until your pickaxe files for retirement.

The Actual Polymer Recipe

Once the assembly line and generator are up and humming, the recipe itself is refreshingly simple:

2 High Quality Pal Oil = 1 Polymer

Forget plastic ratios, chemical plants, or liquid nitrogen. Palworld just wants oil. Specifically, it wants High Quality Pal Oil. And that oil is not sitting in a barrel in your base; it is walking around the desert on legs, fins, and bad attitudes.

Oil Hunting: Digtoise and Dumud

To get High Quality Pal Oil, you will need to head to the desert area to the east. There you will find two of Palworld's unofficial oil barons: Digtoise and Dumud. Digtoise is basically an armored drilling machine that would rather spin into your face than donate its oil. Dumud is the region's other oil-rich resident, and neither of them will politely hand over the goods.

You have two main options here: capture them or defeat them. Capturing is useful if you want to keep them around for base work, but defeating or butchering them can also get you the oil. If you have unlocked the Meat Cleaver, you can sometimes squeeze a little extra out of your captured Pals, though that quickly turns my cozy creature collector into a horror movie. I recommend bringing plenty of Pal Spheres, a decent firearm, and some heat-resistant armor. The desert is hot, the Pals are tanky, and my first trip ended with me running from every Digtoise in sight.

My Foolproof-ish Order of Operations

After many failures, here is the path I wish someone had given me:

• 🔧 Unlock the Power Generator at Tier 26 and build it with 50 Ingots and 20 Electric Organs.

• 🏗️ Unlock the Production Assembly Line at Tier 28 and build it with 100 Ingots, 50 Wood, 20 Nails, and 10 Cement.

• 🔌 Assign an Electric-type Pal to run the generator if your base is not already powered.

• 🏜️ Fly or ride to the eastern desert and hunt or capture Digtoise and Dumud for High Quality Pal Oil.

• 🛢️ Return to base, load the assembly line with 2 High Quality Pal Oil, and collect your single Polymer like it is a precious gem.

Once you have this setup running, Polymer starts to feel less like a myth and more like just another industrial chore. You will still need a steady supply of High Quality Pal Oil, so keep those desert trips regular. In 2026, with a few base upgrades and a solid electric Pal roster, the whole process is much smoother than when I first fiddled with it, but the core grind remains the same: unlock, build, power, hunt, repeat.

Polymer may live in Tier 33, but it really demands the full industrial treatment. So stockpile Ingots, befriend an Electric-type Pal, and remember that somewhere in the eastern desert, a Digtoise is judging you.
